New Famicom was released in 1993 as a new version. At the time, it was positioned as a low-priced version and was sold at about half the price of the original Famicom. In order to achieve this low price, significant cost reductions were made in various areas, and the design was redesigned. The new model had a solid, gray-based design, and the main unit was one size smaller than the original Famicom. The controller was also significantly redesigned from the original Famicom, with a rounded shape instead of a square, and the A and B buttons were placed at an angle to make them easier to press.
