What does a PC Engine cost?
Each listing shows its own price in US dollars; your own currency is applied at checkout.
Five things move a PC Engine's price more than anything else:
- Which machine it is. The white PI-TG001 and the CoreGrafx (PI-TG3) are the everyday machines. The Shuttle (PI-TG2), the SuperGrafx (PI-TG4) and the handheld GT (PI-TG6) are collector machines and cost several times more.
- Box and papers. A boxed unit costs meaningfully more than a bare one. The cardboard survived thirty-five years, and that is the hard part.
- What comes with it. A console sold with games carries the games' value on top of the machine.
- CD-ROM² capability. Adding the IFU-30 Interface Unit or moving to a DUO-series machine puts a PC Engine in a different price class entirely.
- Condition. Everything here is cleaned and tested by hand in Japan. Anything sold for parts is labelled as such, and priced as such.
Every machine on this shelf is a Japanese NTSC-J unit — the same hardware NEC sold in Tokyo, not the American TurboGrafx-16.

Looking only for consoles? PC Engine consoles have their own page.
The NEC PC Engine — known as the TurboGrafx-16 outside Japan — is one of the most beloved consoles ever made. Launched by NEC and Hudson Soft in 1987, this tiny white box punched far above its size: arcade-perfect ports, a legendary shoot-’em-up library, and the world’s first console CD-ROM system. Every PC Engine here is cleaned, tested & working and ships worldwide from Japan.
The PC Engine family — which one is right for you?
- PC Engine (PI-TG001) — the original compact white console. Plays HuCard games — the perfect starting point.
- CoreGrafx / CoreGrafx II — the refined dark-grey models with composite AV output.
- SuperGrafx (PI-TG4) — the rare, powered-up variant collectors chase.
- PC Engine GT (PI-TG6) — the legendary handheld that plays the full HuCard library on the go.
- CD-ROM² / Interface Unit (IFU-30) & Duo — the systems that brought CD gaming to consoles.
- Shuttle, Duo-R / Duo-RX and more — for the dedicated collector.
What to check before you buy
- Region: these are NTSC-J consoles and play Japanese HuCards. Ask us about region-free options.
- CD systems: CD-ROM² units use a rubber drive belt that ages — ours are serviced and tested.
- Power: depends on the item — the CD-ROM² interface unit works on 100–240V; items with the original Japanese 100V adapter need a step-down transformer outside Japan (a plug adapter alone is not enough). Each product page says which it comes with.
