The Famicom Disk System (1986) was Nintendo’s bold disk add-on for the Famicom — cheaper, rewritable games on yellow “Disk Cards.” It launched legends and remains a uniquely Japanese piece of gaming history.

The Famicom Disk System family

  • Debut home of The Legend of Zelda, Metroid and Kid Icarus.
  • Rubber drive belt ages over time — ours are serviced and tested so they load reliably.
  • Connects to the Famicom via the RAM Adapter.

What to check before you buy

  • Region: these are Japanese (NTSC-J) consoles and play Japanese games. Ask us about region-free options.
  • Power: depends on the item — sets with a USB power cable need no transformer; items with the original Japanese 100V adapter need a step-down transformer outside Japan (a plug adapter alone is not enough). Each product page says which it comes with.
  • Condition: every unit is cleaned, tested & working unless clearly marked otherwise.
