The Works of HAL Laboratory

A Word from the Curator

This exhibit is dedicated to a studio known for its incredible technical skill and boundless creativity: HAL Laboratory. While they created many memorable games, they are most famous for giving the world one of its most beloved characters in the Famicom's final years: Kirby.

Their masterpiece, Kirby's Adventure, was a technical marvel that pushed the 8-bit hardware to its absolute limits, creating a game so beautiful and fluid it was often mistaken for a 16-bit title. This collection celebrates a team of brilliant developers, led by the late genius Satoru Iwata, who consistently delivered polish, charm, and pure fun.
