Collection: Famicom — Consoles & Games from Japan, Cleaned & Tested by Hand

Famicom for Sale — Consoles and Games, Tested in Japan

Yes, these are for sale, and they work. On this shelf on 25 September 2026 there are 132 items in stock: 16 Famicom consoles and 107 game cartridges, plus a few controllers, accessories and strategy guides. Every console and cartridge is cleaned and tested by the shopkeeper before it is listed, and carries a 30-day guarantee. Consoles run $62–$250: a loose original HVC-001 from $75, a New Famicom HVC-101 from $101, and a serviced Famicom + Disk System bundle from $62. Cartridges start at $2, and half of them cost $16 or less. Prices are in US dollars; your own currency is applied at checkout. Everything ships from Japan. Shipping is free on orders of $100 or more to most countries — but not to the US or South America. The exact cost for your address appears at checkout, before you pay. (Counts and prices as of 2026-09-25 — each listing shows its own real price.)

• HVC-001 (1983) — the original Family Computer, with its hard-wired controllers. The machine everything else began from.
• HVC-101 (New Famicom, 1993) — the later, quieter redesign with composite AV output. The easy one to put on a modern television.
• Region. These are Japanese (NTSC-J) consoles and cartridges. Each listing says exactly what it is; please read it before you buy.
• Shipping. Sent worldwide from Japan, packed by the same hands that tested it.

What I want to do, more and more these days, is pass on the deeper story — and help people keep enough room in their lives to enjoy games, and to enjoy living. That is why the history below sits under the price, and not instead of it.

The Family Computer (Famicom)

The Place Where All Adventures Began.

Hello, it's the shopkeeper.

Our adventures always began from this little red and white box.

That magic spell of blowing "fooo!" into the cartridge. That feeling of pushing it into the console with a firm "clunk!" The simple, yet anticipation-filled silence when you turned on the power. Each and every one of those rituals was an important signal that sent us from our everyday lives into the world of adventure.

Looking at it now, it's a surprisingly simple machine. But on top of this simple box, we saved the universe, defeated dragons, and rescued the kingdom's princess. The single cable connecting the console to the TV was a magical thread that connected reality and dreams.

Of course, it had its slightly clumsy aspects, looking back now, like the square A/B buttons that made your thumbs hurt, or the unreasonable difficulty of some games. (Well, perhaps that very clumsiness was the greatest teacher, which taught us "ingenuity" and "patience.")

This unit is not just the "first generation." It is the "origin point" of all legends, which transformed living rooms around the world into stages for adventure. The Famicom wasn't just a game console. It was the first door to my own adventures.

Buying your first Japanese Famicom? Our Famicom Buyer’s Guide explains why “AV Famicom” means two different machines (HVC-101, and an AV-modified HVC-001 — we sell both), the DC 10V centre-negative power supply, region, and the rubber belt inside the Disk System.
