The legendary pocket-sized powerhouse of the early ’90s — the PC Engine GT, known as TurboExpress overseas. Essentially a full home console shrunk into your hands, this was NEC’s boldest experiment in portable gaming.
Used. Tested and working. Capacitors and internal drive gears have been replaced. The serial number on the console, instruction manual, and box all match.
The console housing shows scuffs and scratches from normal use. All buttons have been tested and work normally. Volume control and screen brightness adjustment work normally. The screen has fine surface scuffs, but they are not distracting during gameplay.
The instruction manual and additional paperwork are included. Batteries, AC adapter, and strap are not included. This console requires 6 AA batteries to play.
The protective styrofoam insert has minor dents, scuffs, and stains. The top lid of the styrofoam insert is missing. The outer box has scuffs, scratches, corner wear, creases, tears, and tape residue.
A true marvel of engineering — the PC Engine GT packed console-quality games into a handheld long before “portable power” became a buzzword.
What We Did Before This Ships
Every console we sell is opened up and serviced by hand.
We don't just confirm it powers on — we look inside.
This unit was fully disassembled and cleaned internally; dust was removed from all components.
All boards and electrical contacts were cleaned with ethanol and a fast-drying, residue-free electronics cleaner to remove oxidation and residue.
Moving mechanical parts were lubricated with a light application of silicone grease for smooth, quiet operation. (We do not apply grease to electrical contacts — they are cleaned only.)
Electrolytic capacitors are replaced only when there is visible corrosion or leakage — nothing more, nothing less. For console families known for capacitor failure, a full recap is performed as standard.
If a console cannot be properly restored, we do not sell it.
After reassembly, the unit is tested with an actual game: video, sound, and controller input are all confirmed.
Before we seal the box, we power the console on one more time and confirm it is still working.

A note on power: This is a battery-powered handheld and does not connect to household mains, so no voltage transformer is required. (Batteries are not included unless stated.)
A note on region: This is a Japanese PC Engine GT (TurboExpress in North America). For HuCards, Japanese PC Engine cards are not compatible with North American TurboGrafx-16 HuCards — the same reversed data bit wiring that affects the home console applies here. Only Japanese PC Engine HuCards will play natively on this unit.
