Ah, the PC-FX—NEC’s curious attempt to bring anime to life on your television. Released in 1994 as the successor to the legendary PC Engine, it looked less like a console and more like a small tower PC—a glimpse of what gaming thought the future might be. Today, it stands as one of Japan’s most fascinating “what if” machines.
About this unit
Used. Tested and working. The original box and instruction manual are not included.
The console shows scuffs and minor scratches, with overall yellowing. The controller shows minor surface wear and yellowing. A cable is included. The power adapter supports 100V only.

What We Did Before This Ships
Every console we sell is opened up and serviced by hand.
We don't just confirm it powers on — we look inside.
This unit was fully disassembled and cleaned internally; dust was removed from all components.
All boards and electrical contacts were cleaned with ethanol and a fast-drying, residue-free electronics cleaner to remove oxidation and residue.
Moving mechanical parts were lubricated with a light application of silicone grease for smooth, quiet operation. (We do not apply grease to electrical contacts — they are cleaned only.)
Electrolytic capacitors are replaced only when there is visible corrosion or leakage — nothing more, nothing less. For console families known for capacitor failure, a full recap is performed as standard.
If a console cannot be properly restored, we do not sell it.
After reassembly, the unit is tested with an actual game: video, sound, and controller input are all confirmed.
Before we seal the box, we power the console on one more time and confirm it is still working.
Every console includes 30 days of support after it reaches you.
A note on power: this console uses Japan's 100V standard. Buyers in North America (120V) are advised to use a step-down transformer or a multi-voltage power supply; buyers in Europe (230V) will require a step-down transformer to use an original 100V adapter safely.
A note on region: This is a Japanese NEC PC-FX. The console was released exclusively in Japan, and all 62 titles in its library are Japanese-market releases. There is no cross-region software to consider — every PC-FX disc is Japanese.
