The Story

Fantasy Zone

NEC Avenue with Sega, 14 October 1988. Opa-Opa is a small winged ship with feet, the enemies are pastel, the music is cheerful — a shooting game dressed as a children's picture book, which is precisely why it stings when it turns hard. This version added a radar showing where the enemy generators are, and a damage meter for each one. Kindness, put in by the people doing the port.

Please check before you buy: this is an NTSC-J (Japanese region) HuCARD. It needs a Japanese PC Engine, or a system modified for region-free play, and it will not fit a North American TurboGrafx-16 without an adapter.

Used HuCARDs are never manufactured again — what is on the shelf is simply what survived. This one was cleaned and tested by hand here in Japan before it was listed. If you would like photos of this exact card before you buy, just send us a message and we will gladly send them.

Will it work in my country?

Power is 100 V (Japan). It generally works in 110–120 V regions; for 220–240 V regions, use a step-down transformer. Video is NTSC-J composite. See our Country Guide for details.

What video outputs can I use?

The console outputs NTSC-J composite by default. With the Nintendo multi-out you can also use RGB or S-Video if your cable and display/upscaler support it (cables not included unless noted).

Will it work on a modern HDTV?

Many TVs still accept composite. For best results, use a compatible upscaler (e.g., RetroTINK/OSSC) with the correct cable for your setup.
