Title: The Strange Dungeon Known as the Japanese Market.

Hello, it's the shopkeeper.
That was a mysterious game console. The "black ship" sent into the Japanese game market with great fanfare by the god of the PC world, Microsoft. The impact should have been immense, yet no one around me had ever seen one.
It was like a ghost, preceded only by rumors.
The form I occasionally saw in game magazines was far removed from the "toy-like" cuteness of Japanese consoles. As you say, it's heavy, and "lump" is the right word. It feels more like a rugged "machine" than a game console. Even the controller was rugged, like a weapon. Stuffed inside it, for better or for worse, was the philosophy of the PC world: the pursuit of "performance," not "play."
Unfortunately, in Japan, this black giant never became the star of the living room. Was it because it was "too early"?
No, I think it's a little different. It just "made a small mistake about where it was born." In fact, its overwhelming power and its revolutionary-for-the-time online system, "Xbox Live," gathered immense support across the sea in America and was a great success.
Thinking back, in those days, our home telephone lines were still making that "Peee-hyororororo" dial-up sound. It was this clumsy black box that showed us a future of connecting with soldiers all over the world online in such an era. (Well, the first people I connected with online were my chat-room buddies, though.)
An unfortunate giant that couldn't fully exert its power in the strange dungeon known as the Japanese market. But its performance, and the future it showed us, were without a doubt the "real deal."

What We Did Before This Ships
Every console we sell is opened up and serviced by hand.
We don't just confirm it powers on — we look inside.
- This unit was fully disassembled and cleaned internally; dust was removed from all components.
- All boards and electrical contacts were cleaned with ethanol and a fast-drying, residue-free electronics cleaner to remove oxidation and residue.
- Moving mechanical parts were lubricated with a light application of silicone grease for smooth, quiet operation. (We do not apply grease to electrical contacts — they are cleaned only.)
- Electrolytic capacitors are replaced only when there is visible corrosion or leakage — nothing more, nothing less. For console families known for capacitor failure, a full recap is performed as standard.
- If a console cannot be properly restored, we do not sell it.
- After reassembly, the unit is tested with an actual game: video, sound, and controller input are all confirmed.
- Before we seal the box, we power the console on one more time and confirm it is still working.
- Every console includes 30 days of support after it reaches you.
A note on power: this console uses Japan's 100V standard. Buyers in North America (120V) are advised to use a step-down transformer or a multi-voltage power supply; buyers in Europe (230V) will require a step-down transformer to use an original 100V adapter safely.
A note on region: This is a Japanese Xbox (NTSC-J). Microsoft gave publishers the option to set their own region restrictions; Japanese (NTSC-J), North American (NTSC-A), and PAL titles each carry their own region code, and the console will only play software matching its region code — or titles marked as region-free. Most Japanese Xbox titles are NTSC-J only and will not play on North American consoles, and vice versa.
