On September 13, 1985, this game arrived on the Japanese Famicom — and quietly changed what a video game could be. Before it, most games looped forever on a single screen. Shigeru Miyamoto and his team let Mario simply keep running to the right, and in doing so invented the modern side-scrolling adventure.

Everything is here in its purest form: the mushroom that makes you grow, the hidden blocks, the warp pipes, and Koji Kondo's overworld theme — a melody so familiar that people who have never held a controller can still hum it.

This is not a reissue or a later port. It is the original Japanese Famicom cartridge — the exact version, from the exact country, where it all began. Cleaned and tested by hand in Japan, ready to run on real hardware.
