The Story

PlayStation Portable PSP-3000

By 2008 Sony had already won the argument about whether a handheld could be beautiful — and then went back and rebuilt the screen anyway. The PSP-3000 arrived with a wider colour range, five times the contrast of the machine before it, and half the pixel response time, which is the technical way of saying that things stopped smearing when they moved. Sony also said openly that the same change made faint scan lines easier to notice, on some scenes and some eyes. Many owners never see them. Some see them at once. We would rather you hear that from the shop than discover it at home.

The serial number on the console matches the one on the retail box. The battery pack has been replaced with a compatible replacement.

The console shows minor surface scuffs from normal use. There is a small area of paint wear/peeling around the battery cover release button.
A screen protector film is applied to the LCD. The LCD screen shows slight yellowing.
Includes a memory card, AC adapter, power cord, instruction manual, and two additional paperwork inserts. The box shows wear such as scuffs, corner wear, and small scratches.

This console is compatible with UMDs that have a region code including “ALL” or “2”.

Will it work in my country?

Power is 100 V (Japan). It generally works in 110–120 V regions; for 220–240 V regions, use a step-down transformer. Video is NTSC-J composite. See our Country Guide for details.

What video outputs can I use?

The console outputs NTSC-J composite by default. With the Nintendo multi-out you can also use RGB or S-Video if your cable and display/upscaler support it (cables not included unless noted).

Will it work on a modern HDTV?

Many TVs still accept composite. For best results, use a compatible upscaler (e.g., RetroTINK/OSSC) with the correct cable for your setup.
